ISSUE 1 / MARCH 2019

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the International Journal of Creative Media Research. Our aim is a simple one: to be an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed and open access academic journal devoted to pushing forward the approaches to and possibilities for publishing creative and practice-based research.

We have been working hard over the past year to develop and launch a journal that we believe is truly innovative. In moving away from the limited formats of many text-based journals, we have created a platform that is more reflective of the kinds of diverse, interactive, multi-strand, creative research artefacts that are now being produced across different disciplines around the world. Issue 1 showcases the work of the journal’s editors and select members of the editorial board. Topics span postdigital media, digital writing, fiction machines, multi-platform education, compositional crystallography, environmental film, games curatorial practice, observational documentary, digital image sensors, and political app development. Altogether, the work in this issue aims to capture new insights into ways of engaging with creative and practice-based research, spanning fields of Media, Creative Writing, Dance, Environmental Humanities, Computing, Art, History, and Education.
